Get the 13.1 update for Premiere Elements, and you get some nifty enhancements with useful fixes to make your video editing smoother.fonts

See sample text before using a font: A visually enhanced font selection interface lets you see what a font looks like, before you use it. The drop-down list displays sample text for each font, making selections for your titles and text that much easier.

preStartAccess to Instant Movies and Video Story: Start creating an instant movie or a video story as soon as you launch Premiere Elements. In addition to Add Media, the start screen now includes options for creating an Instant Movie or a Video Story.

Video story images with Pan and Zoom: A video story interspersed with images may appear to not flow very smoothly. The Premiere Elements 13.1 update uses Pan and Zoom for the image assets in your video story, minimizing any element of abruptness between shots. To change Pan and Zoom settings, click  preview Preview for an image and open the preview window. Select or clear the appropriate check boxes and apply the changes to some or all of your images.panAndzoom

Frequently used actions: You now have access to the Frequently Used panel when working with effects in Expert View. The panel is available for the Transitions, Titles & Text, Effects, and Audio options on the Action bar. As the name suggests, the panel lists the effects that you use most often.

ISO image for disc burn failures: A disc burn failure can be frustrating considering that it is a time-consuming operation. The Premiere Elements update creates and saves an ISO image on your computer, in the event that a hardware issue causes a disc burn operation to fail. You can then choose to burn the ISO image to a disc, as per your convenience. While the option to explicitly Burn to ISO image continues to be available, this enhancement saves you a lot of time in case of an inadvertent disc burn failure. Also see Disc burning guidelines and Common causes of disc burn failures.

Other enhancements include support for Wacom tablets and a fix for project corruption issues with iCloud.

Fine-tuned and enhanced – the Premiere Elements 14.1 update has the latest feature enhancements and fixes for an even better video editing experience.

Fade in and out both audio and video simultaneously

In the Expert editor workspace, you can now choose to simultaneously Fade In and Out either the audio, video or both for a clip, by choosing the appropriate Fade option from the right-click menu.

fadeInOut

Access your rendered movie from the Export & Share panel

After exporting your movie to a desired format, you can access the output file from the Export & Share panel. On successful export, the Export & Share panel displays the Open Folder button that you can use to navigate to the output folder and access your final video.

exportShare

Another enhancement to the Export & Share experience is the name for your exported file. Instead of being named, Untitled, the exported file now uses the same name as that of your project. Also available to you is access to contextual help for each of the export formats, on clicking the Help icon.

Quick access to Audio Hardware Settings

If you do not have the right audio hardware settings for recording a narration, Premiere Elements alerts you about the conflict. The Alert message now provides you quick access to the Audio Hardware Settings dialog box. Click Open Audio Preferences on the Alert dialog box and rectify your settings.

hwSettings

The button for accessing the audio hardware settings (from the Preferences panel) has also been renamed from ASIO to Audio Hardware Settings.

Fixes and usability improvements

  • After importing clips from Elements Organizer into Premiere Elements, the CTI is automatically placed at the beginning of the imported clips in the sequence.
  • The right-click option to export a Classic Title is now available not only from the Grid view but also from the List View of the Project Assets panel.
  • When copying a Motion Title from the Project asset panel, a copy of the text layer is also created. This means that changing the text of the copied Motion Title will not affect the text of the source Motion Title.
  • Issues with adjusting opacity of the default background for some of the Motion Title templates (WeddingLowerthirdOne, WeddingLowerthirdTwo, and WeddingLowerthirdThree), have now been fixed.
  • Clicking Download All in Motion Titles Panel now downloads those Motion Titles that belong to the selected category. This is an improvement from the previous behavior where Classic Titles were downloaded along with the Motion Titles.
  • Premiere Elements no longer crashes when dragging and dropping the Hollywood look effect to the timeline, in the Quick View workspace.
  • Premiere Elements no longer crashes when a clip containing 5.1 Audio is imported into Premiere Elements, from Elements Organizer, and the volume is keyframed before playback.
  • For Mac platforms, graphics installed with the application that were not accessible from the Graphics panel can now be accessed with the Premiere Elements 14.1 update.
  • DVD burn failures for videos with Stop Marker in the last few frames at the end of sequence no longer occur with the latest Premiere Elements update,
  • While exporting videos with 720p resolution and 30fps frame rate, issues with incorrect fps of 60 being assigned have now been rectified.

So go ahead, get your latest update now.

Play with time in Adobe Premiere Elements

Tired of posting stills on your social networks? Try learning easy techniques to create short, innovative videos of your creative work and spice up your posts. Start off by screen-recording your creation on your device, step-by-step from scratch. Once you have the video clip, you’re ready to apply quick, fun edits to your video using Adobe Premiere Elements.

To find out the supported file types in Adobe Premiere Elements, see Supported file formats.

Here’s a tutorial on how you can play with the clip speed and add dramatic motion effects to your video, using the Time remapping feature in Adobe Premiere Elements. Let’s take an example of a sketch demonstration and apply Time Remapping to it to achieve this video:

Curious to learn how to achieve the slow and fast motion effects? Let’s get started.

  1. Launch Adobe Premiere Elements and click Add media in the upper-right corner of the screen to import the video clip that you want to work with.

2. Select the option to import media and choose your clip.

3. Select the Quick edit mode in the upper panel of the screen to quickly work with video edits.

4. Click the Tools icon  in the right panel of the screen and select Time Remapping from the displayed options.

The following screen appears:

The highlighted section displays the CTI

Adding a slow motion effect

  1. In the timeline panel at the bottom which displays every frame of your video, move the CTI to the frame from where you want to apply the effect.

2. Click Add TimeZone from the bottom panel.

3. Now move the handles on the timeline to indicate the start and end frames for which you want to apply the effect on. In this video, this effect has been applied at the start of the video clip to showcase the plain sketch in slow motion.

4. Once you’ve selected the frames (indicated by the green color), select an effect from the given options in the bottom bar.

5. Move the slider to the desired effect ranging from Extremely Slow to Normal, to apply a slow effect.

6. Click Done.

7. Adobe Premiere Elements will take you back to the Quick edit mode screen. Place the CTI at the first frame and click play to view the effect.

You can delete frames by clicking the Split Clip icon on the CTI or pressing Ctrl+K, at the start and end of the video segment you want to delete, and click Delete. To know more, see Split clips and Trim Clips.

Adding a fast motion effect

To add a fast motion effect, follow steps 1-3 given in the previous section and continue with the following procedure.

1. Using the handles, the coloring-in part of the video is selected.

2. In the bottom panel, move the slider to any effect between Normal to Extremely Fast to apply a fast motion effect.

3. Click Done.

4. In the Quick mode screen, click  to view the applied effect. If you’re not happy with the effect applied you can click  and re-apply the effect.

In the Time Remapping window, you can find the following options:

Frame Blending Smoothen the appearance of frames in slow motion. Make sure to render the video afterwards in the Quick edit mode screen, by clicking Render.

Reset Remove the applied effects and start over.

Duration Length of the selected video segment, in seconds.

Easing In Slows down the transition while entering a frame.

Easing Out Gradually fastens the transition while leaving a frame.

This way, you can apply slow and fast motion effects to different segments of a single video. Once you’re happy with the effects applied, you can now export and share your video clip. To do this, click Export and Share in the upper-right corner of the screen. See Export and Share your video for more details.

Now that you know how to work with Time Remapping, are you excited to create fun videos using these effects? In true Christmas spirit, let’s allow our creative juices to flow, light up our ideas, and turn them into reality.
